Mar 12, 2005The carbide will not lose it's hardness from sharpening with a bench grinder. (sorry whanker57) It will turn dark cherry red at about 750 degrees. Steel at that temp is starting to turn bright red. The solder will let loose way before you can reach a temp that will effect the hardness of carbide. DO NOT quench the carbide after grinding.
